ISLAMABAD: A girl student died after she drowned in Rawal dam after a boat she was riding capsized late on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Badrunisa, 16.
Raja Muhammad Hafeez, the father of the victim, has lodged a complaint with Secretariat police that he along with his family was enjoying a boat ride in the dam, suddenly a strong current hit the boat and it capsized.
As a result, his daughter drowned while they struggled to rescue her in vain. Later, rescue workers retrieved the body after a struggle of one hour. The body was shifted it to a local hospital for autopsy.
The police have registered a case against the sailor and the dam administrative for allowing boating despite a ban.
