LARKANA: some armed men gunned down three persons of Sheikh community and injured one near Unar Petrol Pump here on Wednesday morning.
The reason behind this was a land dispute in the limits of Mahboob Kalhoro police station. According to details, a group of people of Shaikh community from village Agra of Gambat taluka was on their way to Larkana to appear in a court hearing.
And when they reached near Unar Petrol Pump they were ambushed by some armed men resulting in the on spot death of Ghulam Hussain Shaikh and his son Raza Muhammad Shaikh, while Himath Ali and Abid Ali Shaikh received serious injuries.
The injured were rushed to Chandka Medical College Hospital where Himath succumbed to his injuries and Abid has been admitted for treatment. Abid told media that they have an old dispute over land ownership with Suhail Siyal (Sindh’s Agriculture Minister) and his brother which is the reason behind attack on them.
The dead bodies were shifted to Gambat Hospital for legal formalities. The heirs and relatives of the deceased and their community took three bodies to block national highway, held protest demonstration, and staged sit-in at Gambat to demand arrest of accused involved in the murder.
The blockage of the main national highway made all kinds of traffic from up and down sections of Punjab and Karachi to come to standstill. The police of many stations came there to help but the protesters refused to open the road till all the accused are brought to justice.
Police sources said that conflict between both the communities started two and a half years ago and so far five persons have been killed. Meanwhile, two persons who got burnt on Super Highway on Wednesday morning by dint of collision of their car with an oil tanker have been identified as Wadero Hadi Bux Junejo and Niaz Junejo, residents of Badah.
